On this day in Blues history for April 27th…

On this day in 1927, Victoria Spivey entered a St. Louis, Missouri recording studio to record a whole mess of songs, seven of which were released on the OK! label. Among the fine musicians accompanying her that day was guitarist Lonnie Johnson.

This day also marks the birth in 1947 of Ann Peebles, who recorded one of my favorites… “I Can’t Stand The Rain
