On this day in Blues history for March 14th…

On this day in 1940, Louis Armstrong and his orchestra recorded five tunes for Decca Records in New York City, including “Hepcats Ball.”

On this day in 1991, we learned the sad news that one of R&B’s greatest writers, Doc Pomus, had passed away. Just one month later, the great singer Johnny Adams recorded a whole album of Doc Pomus songs.
